What does Soil Conditioner do? 

Earth Cycle’s Peat Free PAS100 Compost Soil Conditioner is a nutrient-dense organic soil conditioner based on composted plant material. It's an ideal, all-round product for your general gardening and horticultural needs.

It improves drainage and aeration in heavy clay soils and adds body to light sandy soils. The peat-free compost reinvigorates your garden by enhancing moisture retention in the soil, allowing for improved drought resistance whilst injecting your plants with more moisture during dry periods. It boosts soil life leading to healthy soil microbial activity that helps to naturally suppress plant diseases, giving the finishing touch to any attractive garden.

Our Soil Conditioner provides vital humus and plant nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphate, potash and trace elements, encouraging healthy plant growth and helping them to flourish.

Soil Conditioner for general soil improvement

• Earth Cycle compos soil conditioner benefits all kinds of soils. It helps to lighten heavy clay soils and make them more manageable.
• It improves the structure of light soils, enhances water retention, reduces loss of nutrients (leaching) and stimulates beneficial soil life.
• Spread a layer 5-10cm (2-4) deep on flower beds, borders and vegetable plots and fork into 15cm (6”).

For lawn improvement

• Soil conditioner helps to improve the soil structure by improving drainage to promote root development.
• Mix with existing soil to a depth of around six inches to provide improved soil structure. 

Planting roses, trees and shrubs using Compost Soil Conditioner

• Soak the root ball in a bucket of water.
• Dig a hole twice the diameter of the root ball; at least 30cm (1ft) if planting a bare root.
• Mix one part of Earth Cycle Compost to two parts of soil.
• Place some of the mix in the bottom of the hole and refill around the roots.
• Firm in carefully and water well.
• During the first season, water well.

Our organic compost is made from recycled garden cuttings from local doorstep collections, civic amenity tips and deliveries into our composting site from local landscapers.

After being inspected, this is then shredded and formed into batches before being put through a sanitisation and stabilisation process over 14 weeks before being screened to the desired size. The final product is tested at regular intervals to ensure it is PAS100 certified - an industry recognised standard.
